  • What is the difference between therapy and grief recovery?

Psychotherapy roles are such that the therapist is the expert and the client is portrayed as needing psychological help, or "fixing". It is about helping people heal their emotional wounds by looking backwards, reliving past pain, to try to help you understand why you are the way you are. As a grief recovery coach/spiritual counselor, I focus on assisting you move forward to making peace with your grief. I see coaching as a collaborative, empowering, equal partnership where I am your expert "companion" on your journey through grief. During our sessions, some of the work we will focus on include limiting beliefs, the stories that are carried within us, self-love, self-forgiveness, while therapy focuses more on exploring the past, and treating the emotional processing.
  • What happens during a coaching session?

Most sessions are conducted via the phone or skype to serve clients in the geographic locale they are in. There is a format for most sessions, along with "homework" from the previous week which we will review and discuss. A new topic will be introduced each week. However, your specific needs may shifts from week to week and my first goal is to hold a space for whatever is coming forward for you at the time. If you reside in the Los Angeles area, I am available to coach you in person.
  • How long are the sessions?

In order to receive the maximum value from the packages, A minimum commitment of 4 months is recommended to see the greatest results. This is also the duration of "The making peace with your grief" series. It takes time to assess your unique loss and customize the program to fit your needs. Each session last for approximately 50 minutes. Many of my clients continue with me after making peace with their grief as they embark on re-building a life that truly matters to them.
